The Metropolitan Police & Our Lady’s Covent High School work with Sev Necati Training

"Really useful, girls very engaged.  Enjoyed the scenarios, students very involved.  Sev delivered the workshop and to the group very well.”  Shauneen Daly, Our Lady’s

Sev Necati worked in partnership with The Metropolitan Police and Our Lady’s Covent High School, to deliver two training programmes to young people to reduce the fear of crime and violence and improve their overall quality of life.

Sev delivered a "Personal Safety" programme to our young female pupils aged between 13-15.  The sessions combined talking and practical exercises in personal safety. Teaching young people how to be safe on the street, in their communities, street awareness whilst travelling, how to avoid peer pressure and serious youth violence as well as practical techniques in conflict resolution.

"The girls engaged immediately telling their own stories.  They were given straight forward, practical advice.  Particularly good was the training given on looking and feeling confident and assertive.  Use of voice and body language was very well taught as was the effective practical techniques.  Good use of role modelling.”  Sarah Chapman, Our Lady’s

“I enjoyed the role plays and discussions.”

“I liked it because it was fun but also helpful.”
“It has helped me stay safe on the streets.”
“I enjoyed that we could role play what may happen in real life.”
“I learned something new.”
“I learnt how to be more street aware.”
The school is now well into its second century of educating Catholic girls in Hackney.  They enjoy excellent relationships with The Learning Trust (responsible for education in Hackney) and the Diocese of Westminster. They work in close partnership to play their part in contributing to raising standards of education in both the local community and the wider Catholic community.

Our Lady’s Convent High School has been awarded the highest award possible, in every individual category in the recent Diocesan Inspection report.  Our Lady’s Convent was praised for the rich experience of Catholic tradition- Servite value of respect for diversity - commitment to excellence.
