Gangs Team in Hackney works with Sev Necati Training

Sev Necati Training working in partnership with The Metropolitan Police and Gangs Unit in Hackney to deliver "Personal Safety" training courses to young people aged between 10-25.  Sev Necati delivered sessions in some of the hot spots that were identified as being targeted and at risk from gang activity.

The young people were from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities, with both females and males participating in the sessions. The sessions were a combination of talk and practical in personal safety. Teaching young people how to be safe on the street, street awareness and practical techniques in conflict management. Techniques also included knife work.

“I enjoyed the practical”

“The best thing was learning self-defence"

“How to use my voice"

“I liked how we learnt how to self-defence against a knife”

She worked in partnership with Active Communities with the Hitz programme and the Youth Offending Team.

"Sev worked with young people from the Hitz programme to deliver these sessions.  The Hitz programme is based in the heart of inner city estates targeting young people at risk of exclusion and anti social behaviour. Introducing them to tag, touch and contact rugby; they utilise rugby’s unique ethos and the assets of the sport’s leading brands and players.

Sev worked with our young people in Hackney. The young people that engaged in the discussions and practical part of the sessions especially enjoyed the practical, which many said were fun and informative. With some of our older young people helping out in the sessions with the younger ones.”

Do not allow a tragic event like the recent riots or another person to be stabbed or shot before you decide to do something. It is imperative that young people and adults are able to assert themselves confidently and positively in conflict.

The training is a life-skill that everyone should have. It could help save yours or someone else's life.
