Sev Necati Training works in Partnership with Hub67
Sev Necati worked in partnership with Hub67, and WAPP, to deliver our award
winning project “Women & Young People’s Safety Solution.” The project worked with women and girls from the
local community. The women and girls
were different ages and ethnicities as well as having various abilities and backgrounds.
Each session had discussions as well as practical activities in
self-defence and personal safety. All
females that took part had an increase in confidence and self-worth and were
very much empowered by the end of the project.
"Sev
was a very reliable and dedicated partner to work with, she put in every effort
to ensure the course was fully booked and had an admirable determination to
make it a success. Feedback about the course was positive and it also
introduced a member of the group to other activities we were doing at Hub
67."

A Participants Write Up in Her Own Words:
Sarah is a 23 year old female, White British,
single.
Please
tell us why they became involved in your project/activities?
The reason I became involved as I recently
moved to London and increasing felt unsafe walking alone by myself and wanted
to learn basic steps on what to do if I am in a vulnerable situations. I also wanted to learn some moves if I was in
a dangerous situations.
Please
tell us how participating helped them?
The course helped me be more aware of what
situations I might find myself in and avoid them. I learnt the basics first steps of
self-defence and how I should think about approaching and diffusing
situations. Being more aware and
avoiding made me more confident of what first steps I should take if ever in a
dangerous situations. I have built up my
strength in the physical techniques that I took part in and it has encouraged
me to continue to do this.
Please
tell us what has changed for the participant as a result of engaging with the
project?
I definitely say I am more cautious in
putting myself into vulnerable situation’s e.g. taking out my valuables and
displaying them and walking through parks in the dark. My confidence levels have really increased
not just taking part in the self-defence but being able to talk openly about
different problems with the other girls in the class, and to definitely continue
to build up my strength by taking part in exercise.
I loved the course it was brilliant and
really helped me become more aware and confident.
